About the project
SU-TOOLZ is an experimental sound spacialisation research project developed by SU-STUDIO in Barcelona in 2001. While working at SU-Studio as a co-founder and programmer, i helped develop the technology that allowed users to explore an interactive application that explored navigation through spacialized 3d environments. Sounds were localized around the playscape and mesh modifications were displaying their properties; users could control a first person camera with a joypad and navigate through this soundscape and create their own version of the song in doing so. At the time spacialized sounds, audio fft to 3d mesh modification and other similar fields were our main research focus, and at the time quite innovative.
