About the project
Just Another Questing Game is just that .. a recretion of the standard RPG go-fetch for XP RPG. The point of this research was recreating all the game mechanics involved in an RPG as well as dynamic world creation and texture blending. The game uses a plane and heightmap textures to model the level and applies features in specific locations according to specific rules. The game features an LOD system, Spawning, inventory, XP system, customisation, character actions, NPCs, texture blending, texture displacement and a smooth third person camera. A tech research that has helped me understand how such a game would actually work; as often, i find that creating a prototype is the best way to learn more about something.
Quests, items and NPCs are joined from an "Word Attribute" mechanic automatically from the quest text and selected from a database, this allows for future expansion of this proof of concept.
