About the project

After the water restrictions started in Sao Paulo, i decided to try and build a drinkable water generatorset of external filters and a UV sterilizer allow filtering of generated or rain water. The system consists of a Thermoelectric cooler, some alluminuim dissipators, a power management cicruit, an Arduino Pro Mini and a Bluetooth dongle for the Android monitoring app i built. This first system creates around 150ml of water from the air, and it results in around 140ml of clean and chilled potable water per day. Next version should generate around 2L per day and have a common water bottle screw for easy storage.

Credits

Built using Thermo Electric Generators (Peltier Effect) and alluminnuim only in principle. A fan is used to cool down the hot part and also move that now warmer air into the cold chamber, where aluminium dissipators chilled to the proper temperature start condensing the water. The next Version will include an ultrafiltering system and a UV sterilizer along with a bottle cap dock output, and will be all built in a 3D printed device. Stay tuned.
